Drought on top of Plague

Alas, the land is still held under the sway of a plague. Rather than having relief in sight, the seers and soothsayers are saying that the sun shall burn even brighter and the temperatures shall top the digits that are triple by the end of the week. Verily, they are never wrong and this part of the king’s land nigh a desert. We shall make sacrifices to the gods for rain, but the god of storms likes to lift sands and haboobs in this area, rather than bathing us in cleansing water and magnificent lightning.

Meanwhile, there are fools and those touched of the brain who have been reported out in the king’s land, proclaiming the plague to be but a conspiracy or that their faith and gods shall protect them. They demand the king let them out of their homes, which they obviously are not in. Forsooth, it is their servants they truly want back, but the viscounts and dukes have been wise and protect these innocents. In one land called, Kentucky, they have reported that they have more cases of the plague after those who were produced by cousin marrying cousin and brother tupping sister refused to stay in their homes and went out upon the streets, claiming there was no plague while even they spread it.

Plague Life Continues

I continue to devote much time to instructing my goblins, elves, and nymphs through the magical mirrors. Those who study the history of the king’s lands have a creative report on the Great War due at the end of the week next. Already one has whined, for she does not like the choices, not wanting to have to perform before the mirror. When I didst point out that there were indeed two options that could be completed by scroll, she bemoaned that there were not more, for she wanted more options. I wonder if they headmaster shall mind when he learned I turned her into a toad..

My elves and goblins who study the history of all the known world found themselves trapped in a prison, verily an Escape Room, within the mirrors. One didst cry for help through the mirror often. He could not understand that the executioner was coming for his head. For that was the fate of those trapped in the land of the Franks during their revolution and thus his if didst fail. Forsooth, he should have paid heed to the notes which I sent out to him and his fellows. For he did not understand when I warned him of the monster known both as Madame La Guillotine and the National Razor. A beheading ’tis only fitting for such ignorance, as to ignore the notes.

Meahnwhile, I didst send an owl with a message to the market, securing four bottles of the best soap of the hand. Verily, I didst send it to the shop of Ser Bath and Master Bodywork. I await their delivery by owl of such succulent scented offerings.

Scroll Evaluations

I have finished evaluating the scrolls that my scholars sent by owl and pigeon. It ’tis a good thing that the fowl can not contract this plague which continues to grip the land. Alas, it seems some of my bright promising young elves and satyrs have been affected by the plague and it has turned their minds to much. Others remain their bright and valiant selves, having turned in perfectly penned scrolls telling of the Kingdom’s past. ‘Twere delights to read. Sadly, three didst put the pox upon their scrolls by trying to pass of the words of others as their owns. The young goblins did not realize that I have spells to detect such things, along with other powers of knowing. I have studied for too long myself to be fooled.

I didst communicate with one little goblin, whose scroll I still await, by magic mirror. It seems she did not realize that she had to access the spell called ‘Agenda’ through her magic mirror to understand what her scrolls should contain and what spells she needed to concentrate on. She didst try to short cut and is lucky it did not turn her into a toad.

Meanwhile, I must dare the market place again, for food supplies grow low and the pantry is bare. ‘Tis is a most dangerous quest that I must go on upon the morn.

Another day Teaching in a Plague

Alas, a couple of my fellow witches and warlocks have taken to a new feature of our scrying mirrors and are constantly chatting. Each time they feel they must do so, they are using the spell that connects them with ALL of our mirrors. I keep getting a fairy tingling that tells me they are there with messages. This is constant and gets in the way of my ability to spell scrolls into the magic blue fairy box.

I am teaching my scholars the Spells of Convincing, in preparation for their learning of the Great War, one that was said to end all wars (but it didst not!). As I set down examples, the scrying mirror kept blocking my efforts. Twas most disconcerting.

Now I must wait for lunch, but alas the ice that keeps my chicken frozen hast worked too well and it dost need to defrost more. Even if it were ready for the fire, I ponder what herbs to add to it to flavor the blandness of the deceased fowl.

Verily, the creativity of altering spells to be performed away from mankind dost keep me busy and I must return unto it as I await performances and scrolls to be delivered via the magic blue box.

Day one of the King's College Being Taught From Home

I have decided that one of the scholars may be due for the executioner’s axe, as his intelligence level does not make him a benefit to the king’s land. He has often, for the past few months, cited the gold coins he paid to take the class as a reason he should automatically receive a passing grade. It has been explained to him that, verily, this is not the case. Today, I didst send out a question in the Blue Fairie Box that asked for a scroll containing a single word to be sent to me. The single word was contained in the scroll that was delivered by this box with the day’s agenda. Forsooth, he could not figure out where to find this word and thought I would gift it to him if he asked. Thus, he didst prove that he had not read the scroll, but did not see his error.

Meanwhile, the head master didst send a scroll to us. In that scroll we didst have to swear, by blood and oath, that we would continue to serve him through the end of the month into the next. If we did not swear by blood and oath our funds would be cut off. I didst send it the scroll with my blood on it, back to them. Whast this not the plan all along? Did we not already have a duty to our scholars to ensure they learned during this time of Plague and isolation.

After sending the scroll, I didst go back to my battle and dragon hunting simulations, for my day with the scholars was done. Although, scrolls have arrived since then.

Teaching During a Plague

I have been absent for awhile, due to catching up on my scholars’ scrolls. There is now a plague that has hit our kingdom, it is everywhere travelers and criers tell us.

Today is the first day my scholars will be learning through their scrying mirrors. Next week we shall meet at our mirrors at the same time and chat. The duke has ordered us all to stay inside our homes. Alas, some of the villagers can not follow this concept. One had a small gathering just the Friday past. ‘Tis certain he will now spread the plague more abundantly.

Luckily, my scholars are used to using their magic mirrors, sending crystals, and blue fairy boxes to do their work. I have already received many scrolls by owl and pigeon, which do not carry this form of plague.

Long Absence

Alas, I had not updated in awhile due to having assigned my goblins, elves, fae, satyrs, etc. papers. I have spent a lot of time pouring over scrolls. Some were brilliant, some very much not so. I didst catch four goblins who tried to swindle me by using the words of another. Verily, they did not believe I would catch them. Caught they were and zeros they all have. Not a single one has turned in a new scroll with their own words. One didst turn in a new scroll, but it was still not their own words.

I have read every scroll in detail and must now go back and read the lesser scrolls that were due in the meantime. A witch’s work is never done.

I must also find sources, primary sources, to teach one of the classes about the fall of the Ancient Road Builders and thus must depart again already.

The New Rio Salado Gauntlet

While enjoying the week long Autumn celebration, in which the Academy does not meet, I received an owl from my boss. The Warlocks at Rio Salado claimed my Rosters had not been certified. This was because I could not find the correct spell to get past the troll that guards their magical screens and the ability to get into the records. To get through the gauntlet and past the troll, I spent hours discussing the ineffectiveness of my spells with representatives from the technical and faculty support guilds. I then sent an owl to my old dual enrollment specialist. She who used to hold the spell books for my academy and still does for half of our sister locations. She is much more helpful than the one who now holds the spell books and I do thank the gods for her.

I also spoke with, and sent owls to the Rio Salado great DE Warlock, whom some call… Bob. At one point, a member of the Faculty Support Guild even took me to see the head sorceress over the guild of Dual Enrollment, to which I belong. She went to my over-sorceress, Amanda, to demand to know what was going on. Amanda forced me to take a spell class called ‘Fire Wall’. I had taken FERPA, which is a spell that protects the private information of our students from trolls and goblins. It is good and necessary. I still have problems understanding why the Fire Wall spells were needed. Does one of the King’s colleges truly fear ‘Insider Trading’ and ‘Merchant Espionage’? Does the king fear spies and hostile countries to attack his colleges? This is not like the rivalry between The King’s University and the University of the King. These are mere colleges.

After I sat through the class for the Fire Wall spell, I was unable to successfully cast during testing and had to sit through it again. Part of the test still makes no sense and was badly constructed. The creator should be burned at the stake. I then sent a messenger pigeon to Amanda, but there was no answer. The next morning, I sent her another owl. Yet, there was still no bird sent with a response. First, I sent an owl to Anna to let her know what was going on. I then talked to a representative of the ‘technical’ guild. He had me speak with the Great Wizard Bob again. Bob then volunteered to personally duel Amanda to ensure that I could get through the gauntlet and past the troll to verify the rosters before the deadline. He did so and the Great Wizard was brave and valiant. Before he had even challenged her, Amanda finally sent back a pigeon with a response. Then after the battle, I was able to face the troll. I got past him and was able to verify the rosters with four hours left before deadline! I immediately sent an owl to Anna to give her an update. I double checked that they were done and then sent an owl to my head wizard.

I was victorious, although some of the names bothered me. On the morrow, I shall have to send a passenger pigeon to Herrera, who took over for Anna. I shall also send one to Anna to let her know what is going on. I am worried about the inclusion of a little goblin on the scroll called ‘roster’. I also worry that one of my elves is not on there.

The Markets

After much debating, I have reopened my shop in the Market of Etsy. The orange and black choker on a previous post is on there now. I shall be adding the Dark Knight Spiral Choker.

Meanywhile, I did not go to the Market for food as I planned to today and will likely put it off until tomorrow. The Potato and Bacon Soup of the Celts did make at least three days worth and I am enjoying it greatly. I must still make a list of everything else I need. I know that I have run out of pins for my hair. I also need quills to write with amongst other things. Indeed, a list must be made first. For a shopper without a list is the prey of the marketeers!

To Etsy or not to Etsy

Orange Choker.

I am trying to decide whether or not to rejoin those in the shops at the Market of Etsy. I do chainmaille work on the side. However, The Market of Etsy is over full and the only way to get noticed is to pay coin to their criers to draw attention to one’s shop. Verily, those that secretly own the land the market is on are a bit on the corrupt side. Yet there is not a good alternative to that market and I do have feast themed inventory available.

I do wonder whether to go or not.
